Boro Cross Country and Track Teams Raise Money for Tornado Relief Effort

Edinboro teams raised over $1,500 to donate to Missouri towns hit by 2011 tornado


The Edinboro University track and cross country teams recently raised $1,542 to be donated to the Joplin School District Fund and the Missouri Southern Tornado Relief Fund, surpassing the goal of $1,200. The Fighting Scots raised these funds by selling T-shirts and taking donations.
           
On Nov. 17, the Division II national cross country championship meet is being held in Joplin, Mo. In May of 2011 an EF-5 tornado devastated the town. The tornado leveled over 8,000 schools, homes and businesses, and claimed 160 lives.
           
Division cross country programs across the nation are coming together to try to raise a collective $150,000, which will be split between to the Joplin School District Fund and the Missouri Southern Tornado Relief Fund.
