Pullo Captures All-PSAC Honors for Fourth Time, Cosgrove Joins on PSAC West Team

Complete All-PSAC Teams

EDINBORO, Pa. (May 9, 2013) – Edinboro University senior Marissa Pullo (Tonawanda, NY/Holy Angels Academy) and junior Brenna Cosgrove (Fairview, Pa./McDowell)  have been named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division all-conference team following standout seasons on the diamond, conference officials announced Thursday.

Pullo
Pullo, who stands at or near the top of nearly all of the school's offensive record lists, becomes just the second Edinboro player to earn All-PSAC honors four times and the first position player to do so. After three seasons capturing all-conference accolades at shortstop, Pullo was named the Western Division's top utility player after splitting her senior campaign between short and catcher. Cosgrove, meanwhile, takes one of the West's three all-conference outfield spots.

With 17 starts behind the plate and 13 at shortstop, Pullo displayed her versatility after putting an already stellar skill set on display in her previous three seasons in red and white. Pullo put in another fine year at the plate, leading the Fighting Scots with a .375 batting average and got on base at a .500 clip, posting seven multi-hit games with two home runs and 10 RBIs. She also paced the squad in runs scored (23), stolen bases (19), base on balls (30) and tied for the team lead in hits (30). Her 19 stolen bases were good for fifth in the PSAC during the regular season. Pullo previously earned first team All-PSAC West honors at shortstop last season after landing on the second team as a sophomore. She was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year in 2010 and also was on the second team at shortstop.

Pullo has written her name throughout the Edinboro record books. She ranks second in career batting average (.398) and stolen bases (65), fourth in runs scored (84), tied for fifth in hits (142), tied for eighth in doubles (19) and also received the most base on balls in school history with 56.

Cosgrove enjoyed her finest season, batting .370 with a .407 on-base percentage and seven RBIs. The only Edinboro player to start all
Cosgrove
31 games, she led the team in multi-hit games with 10 as the regular three-hole hitter. Her 15 runs scored were second only to Pullo and she was 9-for-12 in stolen base attempts. Cosgrove was at her best in key situations, batting .424 (14-for-33) with runners in scoring position. She was named the PSAC West Player of the Week on April 22 after posting a season-high five-game hitting streak against Mercyhurst, Slippery Rock and nationally-ranked California (Pa.). This season marks the first in which the local product from McDowell High School has earned all-conference honors.

Edinboro finished its season with an 8-23 overall record and went 5-11 in the PSAC West.
