Brad Aurila ('92) ranks as one of the top hitters in Edinboro baseball history, along with 2007 inductee Scott Rupert. The native of Coraopolis, Pa. started for four years at first base for the Fighting Scots from 1989-92 before being drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 38th round of the 1992 Major League Baseball Draft. He was assigned to Jamestown in the New York-Penn League, and would later play in Rockford(IL), West Palm Beach(FL), Burlington(IA) and Harrisburg(Pa.). As a Fighting Scot he set 17 school records and ended his career with a .364 average with 46 doubles, eight triples, 12 home runs, a school-record 144 RBIs, and 41 stolen bases. He was named the team MVP as a freshman after leading the team with a .376 average with 12 doubles, three triples and 25 RBIs. In 1990 Aurila earned second team All-North Atlantic Region honors after hitting .305 with seven doubles, three triples, a pair of home runs, and a team-high 33 RBIs, adding 10 stolen bases. He was accorded first team All-PSAC West honors, along with first team All-North Atlantic Region recognition, in 1991 after finishing with a .400 average and helping Edinboro to a 30-22 record, a school-record for wins at that time. He led the team in runs (47), hits (62), RBIs (50) and doubles (18), along with standing third in home runs (6). Aurila capped his career with a .386 average in 1992, once again earning All-PSAC and All-North Atlantic Region honors. He led the Fighting Scots in hits (44), RBIs (36) and stolen bases (13). He had nine doubles, a triple and four home runs. He was also an outstanding defensive performer, setting school records for season putouts with 348 and career putouts (1,099). Aurila currently resides in Moon Township, Pa. and owns First Continental Mortgage and BCHH.
