Brian Decker ('97) ranks as one of the top defensive backs in Edinboro football history, and was also a track & field standout. While competing in football from 1994 to 1997, he earned first team All-PSAC West honors as a junior and senior and was named the 1997 PAC West Defensive Player of the Year. That honor is even more impressive given that Edinboro would finish the year at 4-6. He was a three-year starter in the secondary who finished his career with 212 tackles, including 9.5 for losses, along with 11 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He broke up 24 passes in his career. Decker had his top season statistically in 1996 when he finished second on the team in tackles with 92, along with leading the Fighting Scots with 6 interceptions, one returned for a touchdown. He also led the team with 11 passes broken up and caused a team-high 3 fumbles. He would be a named a 1996 Football Gazette third team All-American and College Sports Information Directors third team All-American at the conclusion of the year. A year later he was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year after finishing second on the team with 82 tackles.

He led the team with 4 interceptions for 140 yards and a touchdown, and also led the team with 4 fumbles caused. As a sophomore in 1995 Decker finished with 58 tackles and an interception as Edinboro posted a 9-2 record, winning the PSAC championship and earning a spot in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. His track & field career was highlighted by a seventh place finish in the high jump at Nationals in 1996, earning All-American honors.
