Brianne Taylor-Skelton ('01) was a standout pitcher on the Edinboro softball team from 1998-2001. She finished her career as a four-time All-PSAC West selection, earning first team honors as a junior and second team as a freshman, sophomore and senior. She ranks among the all-time Edinboro pitching leaders in numerous career categories, including third in career wins (37), ninth in ERA (2.41), second in innings pitched (526.2), second in strikeouts (515), second in games pitched (88), second in complete games (71), and third in shutouts (14). Taylor-Skelton enjoyed two of Edinboro's top seasons in the circle, including a 13-7 record in 2000, leading the Fighting Scots to a 21-15 record. The 13 wins ranks seventh in a season, and her 1.36 ERA is sixth. She completed 19 of her 20 starts, with five shutouts (tied for fifth in a season), throwing 128.1 innings, allowing 97 hits and 35 walks. She struck out 156, which ranks fourth in a season. She earned first team All-PSAC West honors after throwing two no-hitters and striking out 10-or-more batters in seven games. That included a career-high 14 strikeouts in a three-hit win over Slippery Rock. In 1999, Taylor-Skelton posted an 11-10 record with a 2.16 ERA as the Fighting Scots finished with 20 wins. She struck out 127, the tenth-highest season total, in 139.2 innings. That figure also ranks tenth in a season. She would earn second-team All-PSAC West accolades after finishing fifth in the conference in strikeouts per seven innings and ninth in ERA. Taylor-Skelton wrapped up her career with a deceiving 7-19 record with a 2.63 ERA in 2001, so deceiving that she was accorded second team All-PSAC West honors. Edinboro was limited to nine wins for the year, and on many occasions she threw both games of a doubleheader. She appeared in 26 games, the fifth-highest season total, with 20 complete games. Her 157.2 innings ranks fifth in a season, and she struck out 166 batters, the third-highest season total. Taylor-Skelton currently resides in Waterford, Pa. with her husband Kirk Skelton, along with one son (Kamden) and one daughter (Kiernan). She graduated from Edinboro in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and received her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gannon in 2004.
