Daren Tielsch ('06) played one season at Penn State (2001-02) and one game at Robert Morris (2003-04) before transferring to Edinboro and enjoying three outstanding seasons as a member of the men's basketball team. He helped lead the Fighting Scots to a 64-27 record and two PSAC Championships, in 2005 and 2006. Despite playing just three seasons, Tielsch currently ranks 11th in career scoring (1,377 points) and ninth in career rebounds (739). He is also second in career free throws attempted (531) and 13th in career free throws made (268), along with seventh in field goals made (542) and tenth in field goals attempted (1,054). He joined the Fighting Scots in 2004-05 and finished second on the team in scoring at 13.4 ppg. and was also the second-leading rebounder (7.2 rpg.). Edinboro finished with a 24-7 record, winning the PSAC title and advancing to the NCAA Division II Tournament.  As a junior in 2005-06, he led Edinboro to a 21-10 record and a second straight PSAC championship, along with another berth in the NCAA playoffs.  He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the PSAC Tournament. Tielsch earned first team All-PSAC West honors after leading the team in both scoring (18.7 ppg.) and rebounding (9.5 rpg.). He ranked seventh in the PSAC in scoring, and led the PSAC and ranked 19th in Division II in rebounding. He set the school record with 210 free throws attempted.  He  played in the inaugural NABC Division II All-Star Game in Springfield, Mass. in 2006, scoring 10 points. Tielsch wrapped up his career with another outstanding season in 2006-07. He earned first team All-PSAC West honors for the second straight year after ranking fifth in the conference in scoring (16.5 ppg.) and second in rebounding (9.4 rpg.). He was named to the second team NABC All-District team after leading Edinboro to a 19-10 finish. Among season records, he ranks seventh in points scored with 580 in 2005-06, and he stands tenth in rebounds with 296 in 2005-06. Tielsch received his Bachelor's Degree in 2006 from Edinboro. He is married to another 2018 Hall of Fame inductee, Kelly Calderone, and the couple resides in Coraopolis, Pa. with their two children, Kenall (6) and Landon (3).
