Doug Goodman ('77) played for the Edinboro football team, where he was a four-year starter at center while playing for the Fighting Scots from 1973-76. In addition, he competed in the javelin for three seasons for the track & field team. He enjoyed his finest season in 1976 when he was a first team All-PSAC West selection along with being named to the All-NAIA District 18 first team. He was also a first team Pittsburgh Press All-Star in 1976. Goodman helped Edinboro win the PSAC West championship in 1975, with the Fighting Scots facing East Stroudsburg in the title game and finishing at 8-3. He helped pave the way for 1,000-yard rusher David Green in 1975 as Edinboro averaged 239 yards per game rushing. As a stalwart on the offensive line, Goodman was acclaimed by teammates for his leadership and character. They noted, as well, that he beat out a three-year letterman to earn the starting center job as a true freshman.
