Dr. Thomas Fessler was inducted as the Distinguished Service Award recipient. Dr. Fessler has served as the team physician and orthopaedic consultant for Edinboro since 1989, and has been instrumental in the delivery of quality sports healthcare to the athletes of the Erie area for 28 years. He has contributed countless clinical hours and at events to make sure Edinboro athletes compete safely and have the proper care when they do get hurt. In addition to his activities at Edinboro, he has volunteered his services for numerous high schools in the area, including his alma mater, Cathedral Prep. Dr. Fessler is truly an "athletic trainer's physician", as he has constantly and consistently recognized the importance of the contribution that athletic trainers make to athletic healthcare. He was been a mentor and teacher to trainers and staff who have been privileged to work with him. His excellent surgical skills, calm, quiet demeanor and his lack of ego has instilled confidence in his athlete patients and made him one the busiest and most successful orthopaedic surgeons in the Erie area. Dr. Fessler is employed with Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine of Erie. He resides in Erie and has four children. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Georgetown University in 1977, then earned his Doctorate from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1981.
