Greg Walcavich has served as Edinboro’s men’s basketball coach since 1989-90. That first season saw the Fighting Scots finish with a 22-5 record, and Edinboro has been winning ever since. Walcavich owns a 386-213 record in 21 seasons as Edinboro’s head coach, a school record for wins. He has guided the Fighting Scots to PSAC playoff appearances 16 times during those 21 seasons, including a string of nine straight seasons that was snapped this year. Edinboro captured PSAC Championships in 1997-98, 2004-05 and 2005-06. In addition, the Fighting Scots have qualified for the NCAA Division II Playoffs six times. His Fighting Scot teams have won 20-or-more games ten times, including a school-record 26 wins in 1997-98. He also has led Edinboro to 24-7 records in 2004-05 and 2007-08, tied for the second-highest win total in a season. Walcavich previously served as the head coach at Birmingham Southern and West Virginia Wesleyan. All told, he has won 540 games in 27 seasons as a head coach. He entered the 2009-10 campaign ranked sixth among active Division II coaches in career wins. He became the ninth active coach on the Division II level to reach 500 wins on February 9, 2008 with a win over Shippensburg. This marks the second Hall of Fame induction for Walcavich, as he was previously inducted into the Birmingham Southern College Hall of Fame in 1998.
