Jodie (Williams) Johnson ('99) is one of the finest volleyball players to perform for the Fighting Scots. An outside hitter for Edinboro from 1995-98, she was one of the major reasons the volleyball team ranked as one of the finest in Division II during that period. Under head coach Lynn Theehs, Edinboro had a 96-53 record during that period. The Fighting Scots reached the PSAC Championship match all four years, winning the title in 1997 and ’98. They would go on to participate in the Atlantic Regional her final three years, winning the regional title in 1996 and ’98 to advance to the Elite Eight. She earned first team All-PSAC West and All-Atlantic Region honors as a junior and senior while leading the team in kills, digs and services aces both years. The 1998 team finished with a 28-9 record, as she totaled 388 kills, 427 digs and 39 service aces. She had 423 kills, the 13th-highest single season total, and 455 digs, a figure which ranks ninth, in 1997, adding 53 service aces. The Fighting Scots finished with a 26-12 record in ’97. While battling injuries she helped the 1996 team record a 28-13 record, totaling 89 kills and 144 digs. She had 132 kills and 194 digs as a freshman. In terms of career rankings, she is fourth in career digs (1,220), and ninth in career kill attempts (2,571), career kills (1,032), and service aces (134).
