Lisa (Petsche) Cron (‘02) ranks as one of Edinboro’s all-time great women’s runners under head coach Doug Watts, competing in cross country and track & field. She ran from 1997 to 2002, and during that period she earned All-American honors six times despite battling a series of stress fractures early in her career. She ranks as Edinboro’s lone female four-time All-American in cross country, earning the honor in 1997, ’99, 2000 and ‘01. In addition, she was a four-time All-PSAC and All-East Region performer. As a freshman in 1997 she earned her first All-American certificate thanks to an 11^th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships. She earlier placed second at the PSAC Championships and 13^th at the East Regional. After sitting out the 1998 campaign she returned in 1999 and again earned All-American honors, this time placing 19^th at Nationals to help the Fighting Scots finish third as a team. She was Edinboro’s top runner at the PSAC Championships, coming in fourth, then added a third place finish at the East Regional. She made it three times as an All-American in 2000 with a 15^th place showing at Nationals, the top Boro finisher. That led Edinboro to a fourth place finish overall. She would also once again earn All-PSAC and All-Region accolades. She capped her career as a senior in 2001 with a tenth place finish at Nationals to become the first female four-time All-American. Edinboro finished seventh in the team standings. She also took home fourth place at the East Regional and fifth place at the PSAC Championships. In track, she twice earned All-American honors despite running just two years. Both came in the 10,000-meter run, including a third place finish in 2002. That same year she was crowned the PSAC indoor champion in the 5,000-meter run with a then-PSAC record time. She would earn All-PSAC honors four times, winning the 5,000-meter run twice. She concluded her brilliant career by being named Edinboro’s 2002 Nancy Acker Award winner.
