Lisa (Petsche) Cron (‘02) ranks as one of Edinboro’s all-time great women’s runners under head coach Doug Watts, competing in cross country and track & field. She ran from 1997 to 2002, and during that period she earned All-American honors six times despite battling a series of stress fractures early in her career. She ranks as Edinboro’s lone female four-time All-American in cross country, earning the honor in 1997, ’99, 2000 and ‘01. In addition, she was a four-time All-PSAC and All-East Region performer. As a freshman in 1997 she earned her first All-American certificate thanks to an 11th place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships. She earlier placed second at the PSAC Championships and 13th at the East Regional. After sitting out the 1998 campaign she returned in 1999 and again earned All-American honors, this time placing 19th at Nationals to help the Fighting Scots finish third as a team. She was Edinboro’s top runner at the PSAC Championships, coming in fourth, then added a third place finish at the East Regional. She made it three times as an All-American in 2000 with a 15th place showing at Nationals, the top Boro finisher. That led Edinboro to a fourth place finish overall. She would also once again earn All-PSAC and All-Region accolades. She capped her career as a senior in 2001 with a tenth place finish at Nationals to become the first female four-time All-American. Edinboro finished seventh in the team standings. She also took home fourth place at the East Regional and fifth place at the PSAC Championships. In track, she twice earned All-American honors despite running just two years. Both came in the 10,000-meter run, including a third place finish in 2002. That same year she was crowned the PSAC indoor champion in the 5,000-meter run with a then-PSAC record time. She would earn All-PSAC honors four times, winning the 5,000-meter run twice. She concluded her brilliant career by being named Edinboro’s 2002 Nancy Acker Award winner.
