Meghan (Miller) Meabon (’99) ranks as one of the all-time great women’s basketball players at Edinboro while performing for head coach Stan Swank from 1995-99. She played in 115 games as a Fighting Scot, starting 105. Edinboro was 78-40 during her four seasons and she helped the Fighting Scots reach the NCAA Playoffs twice. She ranks fourth in career games played despite suffering a knee injury that prematurely ended her senior season. She was a two-time All-PSAC West selection, earning first team honors in 1996-97 and 1997-98. In 1995-96 she led the team in minutes played despite being a freshman. She averaged 9.7 ppg. and was second on the team in assists with 117 and steals with 62. The following year she averaged a team-leading 14.5 ppg. and also led the Scots in assists (118) and steals (77). The Fighting Scots would end the year with a 24-9 record, winning the East Regional and advancing to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight for the only time in school history. In fact, she hit the game-winning shot in the final seconds of the East Regional championship game to send Edinboro to the Elite Eight with a 70-68 win over High Point. She again earned first team All-PSAC West honors in 1997-98 while finishing second on the team in scoring at 14.0 ppg. She made a then-school record 86 of 212 three-pointers, while pacing the team in steals (86) and finishing second in assists (105). As a senior she averaged 10.9 ppg. and had a team-high 63 steals, while also pacing the team in three-pointers for the third straight year with 47 in 120 attempts. She ranks eighth in career scoring with 1,426 points, along with second in career steals (288) and seventh in career assists (419). In addition, she holds the career record for three-point percentage at 37.7 percent and ranks second in career three-pointers made (222) and fourth in three-pointers attempted (589). Upon concluding her career she served as an assistant coach at Edinboro. She now is the girls basketball coach at Fox Chapel High School.
