Shaun Hayes ('01) is one of the finest baseball pitchers to perform for the Fighting Scots. A native of Edinboro, during his four years he set career records for wins (19), innings pitched (241), complete games (24) and shutouts (3). The right hander also ranks second in strikeouts with 195 after setting the record upon the completion of his career. He enjoyed his finest season as a junior, when he set school records for wins (9) and complete games (10). He would finish the year earning second team ABCA All-American honors, just the second All-American for head coach John "Ace" Radovich. He posted a 9-2 record with a 2.63 ERA, completing 10 of his 12 starts. In 82 innings her permitted 63 hits and 41 walks while striking out 71. He helped Edinboro to a 30-21 finish, the second-highest win total in school history, as the Fighting Scots qualified for the PSAC Playoffs. He was also a first team ABCA All-Region selection in 1999 and was voted the 1999 ABCA Pitcher of the Year, along with earning first team All-PSAC West honors in 1999.
