Knapp is regarded as one of Edinboro’s top all-time swimmers after competing for the Fighting Scots from 1991-95. He also competed for the Edinboro cross country team. He was a 14-time All-American while specializing in the freestyle, and he still holds five school records. That includes the 100 and 200-yard freestyle; 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay; and 400-yard medley relay. He garnered his first All-American award in 1991-92 while competing on the 400-yard freestyle relay team. In 1993-94 he was a seven-time All-American, winning the honor in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, and 800-yard freestyle relay. He followed that up with a six All-American certificates in the 100-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard IM relay, and 400-yard IM relay. He was also a multiple All-PSAC performer during his four years. Knapp is a member of Edinboro all-time swimming team. A chiropractic physician now, he served as the head track & field coach and assistant cross country coach at Roger Williams University from 2003-08. He was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2005. He has previously been inducted into the Erie County Aquatic Hall of Fame and the Corry (Pa.) High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
