Kuhl ranks as one of the all-time great runners at Edinboro, competing in cross country and track & field from 1994-98, and was named to Edinboro’s all-time team. He was an All-American in cross country in 1997 following a 19th place showing at Nationals and was also an All-American in track & field in 1997 thanks to a fifth place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase.  In cross country, he was named the PSAC Runner of the Year in 1996 and 1997, and was also the NCAA East Region Runner of the Year both years after winning the PSAC and East Region individual titles. He was a four-time All-PSAC runner and a three-time All-Region performer. He helped lead Edinboro to four PSAC and East Region titles. The Fighting Scots finished sixth at the National Championships in 1994 and 1997, 13th in 1995, and 16th in 1996.  He just missed All-American honors at the 1996 National Championships, finishing 49th. In 1995 he placed third at the PSAC Championships and fifth at the East Regional. In track & field, Kuhl was a two-time PSAC champion in the 3000-meter steeplechase, winning the event in 1996 and ‘97. He was also an outstanding student and was recognized as a PSAC Top Ten award winner in 1997 and 1998, and was also a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete. He has since gone on to be a highly-accomplished competitor in triathlons and duathlons. That includes the 1999 USA Triathlon International Distance Amateur Triathlon National Champion and the 2008 Amateur Sprint Distance Triathlon National Champion.
