Boro Apex place seventh out of over forty teams in Apex Spark S4 Grand Finals

eSports /
EDINBORO, PA – The Fighting Scots eSports Apex team placed seventh in the Apex Spark S4 Grand Finals over the weekend.

Typical Apex teams consist of three players and one substitute. The team for this event consisted of Griffin Humbert (Live_GIoDidIt)Chris Both (EUP_Chris) and Coby Spiller (Live_SpillyXoxo).

The Finals weekend featured the top 20 teams from group play that took place over a month of competition on weekends. After the opening weekend Edinboro was in line for a spot in the finals, a spot they would not relinquish.

The Fighting Scots finished game three (their best of the finals) with five points for eliminations plus nine points for their second-place finish for a total of 14 points. The team finished the finals series with 39 total points.

Boro eSports head coach Chris Rhodes was happy with his program's debut performance despite the challenges COVID-19 presents.

"I am extremely proud of the team! With limited access to our facility, they were able to adapt and overcome and represent Edinboro University and the eSports program in a very positive way. I am excited to see what the spring semester will bring."

-Chris Rhodes

Edinboro finished outside the top ten in a game just once in the six games that made up the finals. NRT was the winning program after using game three to distance themselves from Sion and Griz Silver.
