EDINBORO, Pa. (Jan. 6, 2015) – Five players scored in double figures as the Edinboro men's basketball team handed Bloomsburg an 81-71 defeat on Wednesday night at McComb Fieldhouse. The PSAC crossover win left the Fighting Scots at 9-4 overall and riding a three-game winning streak. They remained in first place in the PSAC West with an 8-2 record. The Huskies are now 7-6 overall and 5-4 in the PSAC East.
Edinboro prevailed on a night when leading scorers
Jaymon Mason and
Henri Wade-Chatman combined to shoot 9-for-30 from the floor. Mason, the second-leading scorer in the PSAC, still finished with his second career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Wade-Chatman battled foul trouble throughout the game and played just 22 minutes, but the third-leading scorer in the conference still managed 12 points and five rebounds and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the line.
Tommy Scales had a team-high 16 points.This, however, was a total team effort for head coach
Pat Cleary, who saw his career record even at 33-33.

Art Cook scored a career-high 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. The transfer from California(Pa.) made several key free throws down the stretch while making 7-of-8 shots from the charity stripe.
Sheldon Brogdon was the fifth player in double digits with 10 points, draining a pair of key second-half 3-pointers.
Michael Beck fell just short of his first career double-double with nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds. The sophomore swingman also did an outstanding job defensively on Bloomsburg's Christian Mortellite. The third-leading scorer in the PSAC was held to 14 points and made just 5-of-20 shots from the floor.
Mikael Anderson chipped in five rebounds in ten minutes.
Edinboro appeared on its way to a relatively easy win for most of the first half, taking the lead at 11-9 on a Scales jumper in the paint and extending the margin to as many as 14 points on three occasions. Yahmir Greenlee's 3-pointer with six seconds left in the half pulled the Huskies to within 42-32 at intermission.
The lead would again grow to 14 points at 46-32 early in the second half on Wade-Chatman's layup, but moments later the senior guard went out with his third foul. That signaled the start of a 10-0 run for Bloomsburg as Edinboro went three-and-a-half minutes without a point and scored just three points in a span of just over six minutes.
Bloomsburg would actually regain the lead for the first time since the first four minutes of the game, and thanks to an overall 20-3 run. The Huskies led 52-49 with 12:38 to play, and still by one at 62-61 with 5:55 to play.
Sheldon Brogdon chipped in 10 points. Brogdon's three gave Edinboro the lead for good at 64-62 with 5:07 remaining. Still leading by two points at 67-65, the Fighting Scots finally pulled away on the strength of a 10-2 burst. Mason's jumper got the run started, and Wade-Chatman followed with a pair of free throws to make it 71-65.
Bloomsburg's Malik Garner interrupted the run with a layup, but Edinboro ran the next six points. Cook made four straight free throws, and
Je'Land Head landed the dagger with a fallaway baseline jumper to make it 77-67 with just 45 seconds to play.
Edinboro ended the night shooting 42.4 percent from the floor (28-of-66), while holding Bloomsburg to 37.7 percent (26-of-69). After a sluggish start, the Fighting Scots made 13 of their final 14 free attempts to finish the night at 20-for-27. Bloomsburg was 14-for-20 from the charity stripe. Edinboro also owned the glass by a 52-41 margin.
In addition to Mortellite's 14 points, Garner was in double figures with 13 markers. Malik Sneed pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
With PSAC crossover action now completed, Edinboro returns to PSAC West play on Saturday, January 9, playing at Clarion.
