Vitor Albanese (Barueri, Brazil) won the singles and doubles bracket at the 2017 ITA Men's Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Mercyhurst at Pennbriar Racquet Club over the weekend. The top seed in singles play, he won all five of his matches, including a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Platon Gud of Bluefield State in the semifinals, followed by a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Giorgi Datashvili of Bluefield State in the finals. Albanese captured his second consecutive Atlantic Region singles title and will compete at the 2017 ITA Oracle Cup in Rome, Ga. on Oct. 11-15. He will be joined by teammate Daniel Fernandez, as the duo combined to win the doubles competition. They prevailed over Bluefield State’s Gud and Ignacio Puildo, 6-4, 7-6 (1), to secure Edinboro’s first- ever trip for a doubles team.
