This week’s Fighting Scots Female Athlete of the Week is senior pitcher Amanda Shields (Waterford, Pa./Fort Leboeuf). Amanda pitched the Scots to a crucial PSAC West victory on the road at Slippery Rock on Saturday, tossing a complete game shutout in the circle, allowing only four hits with three strikeouts in Edinboro’s 6-0 win. She also earned her first save of the season earlier in the week vs. Mercyhurst, throwing the final 3.2 innings to lock down an 8-3 triumph. Amanda took a tough luck loss in game one against Mercyhurst, throwing a complete game while allowing just one earned run. The victory vs. Slippery Rock was the 20th of her career, moving her into eighth place all-time in school history.
