Male Athlete of the Week - The Edinboro defense was strong this past weekend during a 20-7 loss to California (Pa.). One of the leaders was Mike Shansky, who notched seven tackles, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup against his former team.
Shansky's fumble recovery came at a crucial point in the game. Near the end of the first half, the Vulcans sacked Jon Girvin and forced a fumble, which was recovered at the Edinboro 11-yard line. The next play, Kyle Matula tackled John Knox Jr. and Shansky was able to recover it in the endzone for the touchback, getting the Fighting Scots out of a tough situation.
