Fighting Scots Fall On Road against Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (November 9, 2013) – Looking to end its losing streak, the Edinboro men's swimming team posted its closest loss in the last three dual meets, losing to Bloomsburg 141-101. The loss drops the Fighting Scots record to 0-4 in dual meets while the Huskies picked up their first victory of the season and are now 1-2.

Nick Wilkinson had arguably the best performance of the day for Edinboro. Wilkinson won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.82, was second in the 200 yard backstroke finishing with a time of 2:00.44, only .29 behind the winner, and was also a part of the 200 yard medley relay team that placed second, finishing in 1:38.25. Josh Beabout posted a time of 4:58.29 to win the 500 yard freestyle, Justin Ransel finished in 55.48 in the 100 yard butterfly, and Luke Frederick won the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.67. The Fighting Scots swept each of those three events. They were also able to pick-up a victory in the 200 yard freestyle relay from the foursome of Ransel, Jared Malecki, Chad Murphy, and Micah Cattell with a time of 1:29.31.

Edinboro returns to action in a little less than a month, when they travel to Ohio for the Wooster Invitational. Last season, the Fighting Scots placed fourth out of ten teams in the invitational.
