Boro Wrestling Hosts Annual Edinboro Open

EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro hosted its annual Edinboro Open on Saturday, with almost 200 wrestlers representing 27 teams competing.  The event took place at the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports and Recreation Dome.
 
Edinboro's Kasey Burnett-Davis finished second in the 141lb. weight class.  The redshirt sophomore defeated Tim Bailey of Clarion 15-4 in the second round, after taking a bye in the first round.  Burnett-Davis then continued to roll as he defeated Derek Goodwin of Bloomsburg 15-4.  After a 4-2 victory over Justin LaValle of Old Dominion in the first sudden victory, Burnett-Davis was set up in the championship match against Tyler Small of Kent State.  In the championship match, Small defeated Burnett-Davis by a 7-2 decision. 
 
Pitt, Kent State, and FLWC each had two first-place finishers apiece with Lehigh, American, and Virginia Tech each collecting one first-place finish apiece.
