EDINBORO, Pa.(Feb. 13, 2014) – The Edinboro University Athletic Department held its 25th Annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet on Thursday, February 13 at the Van Houten Dining Hall. The event honors all student-athletes who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
This year a total of 182 individuals were recognized, the highest total ever. A year ago the previoyus record had been set with 178 honorees. This year's total included 22 four-year scholar-athletes and nine five-year scholar-athletes. In addition, the student-athletes were asked to invite a faculty member to the banquet. That brought the total to close to 250 attendees.
Dr. Steven Combs, the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, served as the featured speaker. APSCUF helped to sponsor the event, and gifts for each attendee were donated by the Edinboro University Foundation.
