#17 KENT STATE 18, EDINBORO 15A surprising pin by Stephen Suglio over
Billy Miller gave the Golden Flashes a 15-9 lead, but the Fighting Scots would tie the match with decisions by
Sean Russell at 125 lbs. and
Anthony Rivera at 133 lbs. That left the outcome up to
Tyler Vath and Anthony Tutolo at 141 lbs. Vath trailed at one point, 5-2, but would rally with a pair of escapes and a stalling point to tie the match. Tutolo owned riding time, however, for a 6-5 decision. The match again began at 149 lbs., with freshman
Patricio Lugo, ranked 18
th, suffering his second tough loss of the day, a 5-1 decision to 20
th-ranked and former Fighting Scot Mike DePalma.
Austin Matthews, ranked 16th at 157 lbs., followed with a 9-5 decision over Casey Sparkman, who had upset Central Michigan's Luke Smith earlier in the day.
Patrick Jennings followed with a 4-2 decision in sudden victory over Mike Vollant at 174 lbs.
Vic Avery, the only Fighting Scot to win both of his matches on Sunday, claimed a 7-2 decision over Cole Baxter at 184 lbs.
