PSAC participates in mental health webinar

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference is pleased to announce its participation in an online webinar with Mental Health Empowerment Speaker, Ivy Watts, to provide mental health support and training for coaches and staff.

Watts, a former NCAA Division II student-athlete, provided an online training session Tuesday to help give coaches and staff the tools they need to support student-athletes, and to support themselves during these challenging times.

"I am excited to be working with the PSAC once again, and to be sharing tools for coaches and athletic staff to know that they can make a difference in supporting the mental health of their student-athletes," said Watts. "Coaches and staff are a critical piece of the puzzle, so being able to empower them to recognize warning signs and implement mental wellness training into their routines with their athletes, and ultimately learn how to take care of themselves during these challenging times, is incredibly important in breaking the mental health stigma."

Watts has empowered over 10,000 students and over 5,000 administrators/coaches, as well as parents and employees in order to break the stereotype and stigma of mental health. To see more about Ivy Watts and her training courses, click here.

The webinar, titled, "Supporting the Mental Wellness of Student-Athletes and Yourself During COVID-19 and Beyond", had 352 attendees. Participants were coaches and administrators scattered across all 18 of the conference's institutions.

"I'm very proud that so many of our coaches and staff participated in the webinar," said PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray. "These have been trying times for all our coaches and student-athletes, and we will continue to provide them all programming to support them to be as successful as they can be."
