EDINBORO, Pa. – Fresh of their first PSAC West win of the season, the Fighting Scots looking to put the first dent in an unblemished Slippery Rock schedule on Saturday, as Edinboro University hosts The Rock for Homecoming 2021.

Edinboro (1-3, 1-1) dropped Seton Hill on the road last weekend, bringing the 17-7 win back to the Boro following another outstanding defensive effort. The No. 6 Slippery Rock squad (5-0, 2-0) travels to Sox Harrison Stadium Saturday for the 2 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division contest.

"Saturday was a great team win," said Edinboro Head Coach Jake Nulph. "Our team competed and gave tremendous effort for 60 minutes. We need to use that as a building block to continue to improve our game – one week at a time."

In the last matchup between Edinboro and Slippery Rock on Oct. 19, 2019, Ta'Nauz Gregory led Edinboro with 280 all-purpose yards – 111 kick return yards and 169 receiving yards. Vicente Arriagada kicked field goals of 23, 34 and 44 yards.

Slippery Rock and Edinboro combined for scores in all 10 red zone opportunities, while combining for 879 yards of total offense. Edinboro held three early leads before Slippery Rock went on a 27-6 run to put the game out of reach. The Scots tallied a late touchdown to account for the final 41-30 score.

Ta'Nauz Gregory led Edinboro with 280 all-purpose yards with 111 kick return yards and 169 receiving yards. Vicente Arriagada kicked field goals of 23, 34 and 44 yards. For Slippery Rock, Roland Rivers III was 33-of-41 for 391 yards with one touchdown and one rushing score. Henry Litwin caught 13 passes for 131 yards and one score.

Slippery Rock is one of just two teams in the PSAC that enter week six of the season without a loss. The Rock and Cal U are both 5-0 in the Western Division, while no teams in the Eastern Division remain undefeated.

Last week, the Fighting Scots entered the contest against Seton Hill with the No. 2 rank in NCAA Division II with four blocked kicks on the season. Sir Dennis II and Bishop Simmons would add two more to the Edinboro total, as the Fighting Scots used strong defensive and special teams efforts to capture the first PSAC win of the season, 17-7.

Late in the fourth quarter, a Seton Hill drive was stalled, leading to a field goal attempt by Luke Hauger. Holding just a 3-point lead at the time, Edinboro's special teams defense would secure the win as Simmons block led to a Nick Cunningham 56-yard touchdown to put the Fighting Scots up by two scores.

Slippery Rock improved to 5-0 and won its 18th straight PSAC West game last week with a 75-0 victory over Clarion.
Head Coach Jake Nulph is off to a 1-3 start at Edinboro. The 2005 Robert Morris grad spent one season as a defensive backs coach at Indiana (Pa.) before accepting the job at Edinboro. Prior to that, he had stints as a defensive coach at Duquesne, Westminster, Allegheny, St. Francis and Robert Morris.

Slippery Rock head coach Shawn Lutz is in his 26th overall year at The Rock and his fifth season as head coach, where he owns a 44-11 record. Lutz was the PSAC West Coach of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.
