The Fighting Scots knocked off host IUP last Saturday 21-17. The special teams unit blocked two punts, taking one back for a score. Trailing 17-14,
Isaac Bernard and the offense went 88-yards in 15 plays capped by a seven-yard reception by
Jack Hollibaugh to take a 21-17 lead. The defense made the score hold up stopping the Crimson Hawks on fourth down with less than a minute to play.

Honor Roll
DeAndre Dowdell became the first Fighting Scot to earn a PSAC Player of the Week honor. Dowdell blocked two punts and made 10 tackles in a 21-17 victory over IUP on Saturday.
Jack Hollibaugh also earned Edinboro's Scot of the Week for his performance including catching the go-ahead touchdown on Saturday.Â
Block PartyÂ
The Scots blocked two more kicks on Saturday in their 21-17 victory over IUP. Edinboro has now blocked 10 kicks which leads all of Division II. Three Scots have blocked multiple kicks this season with DeAndre Dowdell,
Jaohne Duggan and
Bishop Simmons all blocking two. That ties the three players for fourth in D-II.
Special Teams
Reed Martin currently ranks second in the PSAC in punting averaging 40.1 yards per punt good for 24th in the nation. The coverage team has backed up their kicker helping the Scots to the third best net punting mark in the PSAC. Their average of 36.2 ranks 37th in Division II.
Bend Don't Break
The Fighting Scot defense only allowed one touchdown a week ago to an explosive IUP offense. IUP was 3-for-4 in the red zone, but all three scores were field goals. On the season, Edinboro has a red zone percentage of .690 allowing 20 scores in 29 opportunities the 26th best mark in the nation. of those 20 scores six have been red zone field goals.Â
Getting Defensive
The Scots defense has two of the PSAC's top-15 tacklers in
Saige Ley and
Nick Cunningham. Ley paces the defense with 7.7 tackles per game which ranks 14th in the PSAC and 85th in the nation. Cunningham ranks 22nd in the PSAC with 6.8 tackles per game.
Tarique Smith currently ranks 10th in the PSAC in sacks recording 0.64 per game.
CJ Waldier ranks 12th in DII and fourth in the PSAC with two fumble recoveries.Â
Hidden Yards
Edinboro is the least penalized teams in the PSAC. They take just 4.5 penalties per game and average just 43.00 penalty yards per contest.
Scouting the Golden Eagles
Clarion slipped to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in PSAC West play after a 38-20 loss to Mercyhurst last Saturday. The Golden Eagles average 17.25 points per game while allowing 48.75. Clarion has used a pair of quarterbacks in Taylor Eggers and Zechariah Sanderson. Eggers is 60-for-101 with eight touchdowns and five interceptions while Sanderson is 58-for-122 with three scores and eight picks. Quinn Zinoble is the top target for Clarion catching 29 pass for 494 and six touchdowns but didn't play against the Lakers last week. Terrrell Ford adds a team-high 33 catches for 469 yards and two touchdowns. Khalil Owens leads the rushing attack with 229 yards and a touchdown. Karem Hamdon has 68 total tackles with 5.5 coming for a loss. Drew Blon has also been a disruptive force with 7.0 tackles for loss in his 57 total tackles. Desmond Johnson has 24 tackles on the sesaon, but a team-high 8.5 of them have come behind the line of scrimmage.
