XC: Cross Country Director of Operations Anne Cleary announces Nathan Meeuwenberg as new head coach

Meeuwenberg will also serve as assistant track & field coach

EDINBORO, Pa. – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference was reminded of Edinboro's dominance in the 2020-2021 season, as the Scots took the crown in both men's and women's cross country.

Meanwhile at King University, a Division II school in Bristol, Tennessee, Nathan Meeuwenberg was accomplishing a similar feat.

As head cross country and track and field coach, he guided the women's cross country team to conference gold in 2019. He also facilitated an improvement on the men's team that saw them jump from last in the conference to runner-up status in 2021.

For his efforts, he was named coach of the year for his work with women's cross country in 2019.

And now, he is a Fighting Scot.

"I am ready to continue the standard of excellence that Edinboro University has set. I am honored by the opportunity Coach Anne and the department of athletics has given me. I am excited to get to work!"

-Nathan Meeuwenberg

Cleary oversaw a hiring effort that garnered plenty of interest, tapping Meeuwenberg from a long list of candidates.

"I am very excited to get Nathan on campus and start working with the team. Through the interview process I felt Nathan would be a great fit for not only our team and program, but also Edinboro as a whole. I look forward to him having a long, very successful career here at Edinboro."

-Anne Cleary

Prior to joining King University in 2019, Meeuwenberg cut his teeth as a coach with Science Hill High School where he fostered improvement over his three seasons.

As a runner, he was named captain of his cross country and track and field teams at Milligan College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in business administration with an emphasis in economics.
