Cleveland – The Edinboro wrestling team split a pair of MAC duals defeating Rider 24-18 before falling to host Cleveland State 25-10 in the night cap.

In the opening match, the Scots trialed 14-9 after five bouts. Dylan Kohn started the comeback bid with a 7-2 decision over Angel Garcia to cut the lead to 14-12. In his first appearance of the season, Jacob Oliver scored a 9-5 decision over Shane Reitsma to give Edinboro the lead 15-14. Ethan Ducca kept the run going with a 7-1 decision of his own to run the score to 18-14. Cody Mulligan picked up six points with an injury default before Rider closed the match with a major decision at 285 to set the final.

Trialing 5-0, Cameron Soda got Edinboro on the board with a 3-1 sudden victory win at 133. Ryan Burgos accepted a forfeit at 149.

Against Cleveland State, Gabe Willochell put the Scots on the board accepting a forfeit at 141 to make the score 7-6 Vikings. Cleveland State went on a run winning the next four bouts to build a 19-6 advantage. Ethan Ducca stopped the run at 184 with a 10-2 major decision to cut the lead to 19-10 but Cleveland State closed out the match with a pair wins to set the final.

The Scots are back in action on Sunday Jan. 30 when they travel to George Mason.
