Mansfield, Pa. – All five scoring times for the Fighting Scots earned All-Region honors as the men's cross country team were Atlantic Region runner ups to earn a spot in the NCAA National Championship Meet in Seattle.
"Our men ran tough today. They went out well and executed the race plan over the length of the course," said head coach Nathan Meeurwenberg. "This team is fun because you don't know who is going to step up. We have so many talented guys."
Ward Ries once again led the way for the Scots finishing in fourth with a time of 29:31.3.
Connor Volk-Klos crossed the line in a time of 29:41.9 good for eighth.
"We trained for this for the past four months and everything went to plan," said Volk-Klos. "We came here with one job and that was to qualify for nationals. We did that and it was a great day overall. I'm excited to see what we can do at nationals. Every race we are getting better and better. It's the last dance for most of us and we plan to leave everything out there."
Eric Alu was the third Scot in the top-10 finishing 10
th in a time of 30:00.3.
Jack Lacina and
Cole Hanks finished back-to-back in 12
th and 13 in times of 30:07.1 and 30:08.2 respectively.
Danny Desmond was 26
th with a time of 30:29.6 and
Nick Amos finished in a time of 30:31.9 to finish in 28
th.
"One more meet to go and we have been talking about it for months," Meeurwenberg continued. "These guys have earned it and I am excited to see what they can accomplish at nationals."
The Scots have earned their spot in Seattle on Dec. 3.
