Shepherdstown, Wv. – The Edinboro women's tennis grabbed their second PSAC conference win as they defeated Shepherd University 6-0, on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Edinboro improves their conference record to (2-1) and (7-4) overall.
Edinboro shot out the gates early, gaining a lead by clinching the doubles point with a 3-0 sweep. The duo of Rafaella Negrao De Almeida and Luciana Ponce got things started with a 6-4 victory over Isabella Mascari and Ally Frushour.
Up next, Vidisha Pallamreddy and Anisha Thada kept things going as they beat Morgan Burner and Johnna Smith 6-1. The duo of Marina Zottele and Maria Clara Salomao completed the doubles sweep with their 6-4 victory over Quinn Madden and Claire Dean.
In singles, Pallamreddy grabbed her eighth win of the season as she defeated Mascari 6-2, 6-2. Ponce got past Frushour 6-2, 6-1.
Thada clutched a close match when she won 7-6, 6-7, 10-4, over Burner. The rest of singles was smooth sailing for the Fighting Scots. De Almeida cruised past Smith 6-3, 6-0.
Zottele posted a commanding victory over Dean 6-0, 6-1. The final singles match with Ana Nadai Madden was unfinished.
Edinboro will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to IUP for a 3:30 p.m. match start.
