Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team collected another conference win at home on Tuesday afternoon as they shut out Clarion University 7-0. With the win Edinboro improves to (8-5) overall and (3-1) in the PSAC.
Edinboro gained momentum early by sweeping in doubles play and earning the doubles point. The duo of Luciana Ponce and Rafaella Negrao De Almeida got things going with a 6-1 victory over Alexis Strouse and Savannah Buttery. Marina Zottele and Vidisha Pallamreddy shut out Alyson Fisher and Charlie Allison 6-0.
In singles Edinboro used their momentum to clinch the match win by sweeping all six singles matches. Pallamreddy picked up her ninth win of the season as she put away Strouse 6-1, 6-0. Ponce had a commanding match win over Buttery 6-1, 6-0.
De Almeida defeated Fisher 6-1, 6-0 which boosted her singles record to (5-5) on the season. Following her, Zottele would post the only singles sweep of the afternoon as she took down Josie Beckerleg 6-0, 6-0. Ana Nadai gained her sixth win of the season when she put away Allison 6-4, 6-0.
The Fighting Scots will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Slippery Rock for a 4 p.m. start.
