Bloomsburg, Pa. -- The Edinboro women's tennis team was victorious in dominant fashion on Friday at the Burt Reese Tennis Center as they defeated Bloomsburg 6-1. With the win Edinboro improves to (9-5) overall and now has won two of their last three matches.
Edinboro gained an early advantage after earning the point for doubles. The Fighting Scots grabbed two out of the three doubles matches and would build for later success in singles.
Luciana Ponce and Rafaella Negrao De Almeida opened things up with a big win over Luana Bernardi and Rea Hagishima 6-2. The duo of Vidisha Pallamreddy and Sandra Riecken clinched the doubles point with their close win over Lexi Quackenbush and Alese Rinker 7-5.
In singles Edinboro sustained their dominance by winning five out of the six singles matches. Pallamreddy won her tenth match of the season when she cruised past Hagishima 6-2, 6-2. Ponce remained solid in her victory over Chikhalenko 6-3, 6-3.
De Almeida gained her sixth win of the season as she got past Quackenbush 7-6 (10), 6-2. The pattern continued with Marina Zottele grabbing her eighth win of the year over Capoferri 6-2, 6-3. Riecken was clutch in her win over Sarquis 7-6, 6-7, 11-9.
Edinboro will be back in action on Monday when they travel to IUP for a 3:30 p.m. match start.
