Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team dropped a 21-12 decision to visiting George Mason Saturday night at McComb Fieldhouse.
The Patriots jumped out to 9-0 lead on the backs of decisions from Markell Baker, Josh Jones and Anthony Glasl.
Ryan Burgos got the Scots on the board in a big way when he scored a fall at the 6:27 mark of the match over Nate Higley.
Luke Kemerer dropped a 7-3 decision to
Peter Pappas at 157 and Drew Dickson scored an 11-4 decision over
Max Kirby to extend the Patriot lead to 15-6. Logan Messer scored a 3-1 decision over
Jared McGill and Tyler Kocak toped
Jack Kilner 7-2.
The Scots finished the night with a pair of victories.
Cody Mulligan scored a first period takedown to lead 2-0 after the first building 1:10 in riding time. He escaped to start the second extending his lead to 3-0. Jon List would score an escape, but not before Mulligan locked in the riding time point to score a 4-1 decision.
At 285,
Nick Lodato scored a takedown late in the first to take a 2-0 lead over Donovan Sprouce. Sprouce escaped to start the second trimming the lead to 2-1. Lodato scored a reversal 20 seconds into the third and held off a late charge to win 4-2.
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they travel to Clarion. Wrestling is slated for 7 p.m.
