Football Hosts No. 5 Slippery Rock on Senior Day

Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team will play host to No. 5 Slippery Rock at noon on Saturday at Sox Harrison Stadium.

Last Time Out
The Fighting Scots are now 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the PSAC West after falling 38-28 to host Seton Hill Saturday at Offutt Field. Armani Bailey caught six passes for 114 and a touchdown to lead the offense. Thaddeus Standfield caught two balls for 75 yards and a score. Isaac Bernard threw for 272 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Brian Trobel added a 19 yard touchdown run. Defensively, Toby Cline and Zach Malpica each tallied nine tackles. Cline made seven solo stops. Ty Thornton made six total tackles with three coming behind the line of scrimmage and two sacks.

Pass Catchers
Bailey recorded the third 100-yard receiving game of the season with 114 on six catches last week joining Teagan Brown and Mike Watkins. Brown caught 10 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown against Clarion. It was the first time a Fighting Scot pass catcher has topped 150 yards since TaNauz Gregory had 169 against Slippery Rock on Oct. 19, 2019.

Honor Roll
Through nine weeks of play the Scots have earned three PSAC West Athlete of the Week honors. Toby Cline was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week in Week 5. Cline intercepted a pair of Mercyhurst passes while also breaking up a pass in the end zone and recording five tackles in the win.

Reed Martin is the other Scot to earn PSAC West honors this season earning Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors for his performances against Bloomsburg and Cal.
On the season Martin is averaging 39.9 yards per punt which ranks 38th in Division II. 

Hidden Yards
The Scot coverage team has held opponents to just 2.8 yards per return ranking second in the PSAC and 15th in the nation. The Scots net punting is second in the PSAC 37.6 yards per punt ranking 13th in the country.

Takeaways
The Edinboro defense has pounced on eight fumbles which is the second most in the PSAC. CJ Waldier has recovered two of those fumbles ranking second in the PSAC and 12th in the nation.

The Edinboro defense has taken the ball away 14 times in total. Toby Cline and Logan Dexter have each recorded two interceptions.

Defensive Leader
CJ Waldier has also been the Scots leading tackler with 84 total tackles. He ranks third in the PSAC and 15th in the country with 9.3 stops per game. He also leads the conference and 19th in the nation in solo tackles with 5.1 per contest.

Rushing Attack
The Edinboro rushing attack averages 106.9 yards per game. Brian Trobel is the Scots leading rusher averaging 62.0 yards per game. Trobel has found the endzone nine times on the ground this season the third best mark in the PSAC. 

Moving the Chains
The Scots have been solid on third and fourth down ranking sixth in third down offense at .412 and ranks third in fourth down conversions at .583.

Scouting The Rock
The Rock is now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in PSAC West play after a 42-14 win over Clarion last Saturday. Slipper Rock is ranked No. 5 in the AFCA poll and No.1 in Super Region 1. Brayden Long finished 27-of-39 for 363 yards and four touchdowns. Cohen Russell hauled in six passes of 135 yards while Kyle Sheets caught nine passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Khalid Dorsey rushed for 60 yards and a score. Selvin Haynes recorded six tackles to lead the defense. Eddie Faulkner IV and Munchie Johnson each recorded an interception.

Long is 192-of-281 for 2479 yards and 27 touchdowns. Sheets is his top targer catching 55 passes for 893 yards and 13 touchdowns while Cohen adds 47 catches for 693 yards. Khalid Dorsey is the leading rusher with 653 yards and eight touchdowns. Kyle Kudla leads the defense with 58 tackles.
