Women’s Tennis Hangs on Against Daemen, 4-3

Edinboro, Pa. -- After falling in a close match on Friday night, Edinboro avenged the weekend slate with a 4-3 win over Daemen on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Edinboro women improve to (2-3) overall. 

Doubles 
In doubles Edinboro would earn the point with two wins out of three. The Scots earned the early advantage after Cecillia Carayol and Marinia Zottele won their second doubles match of the season in a close 7-5 battle.  

Sandra Riecken and Ana Nadai came away with Edinboro's second doubles win after their dominant 6-1 victory. Nadai and Riecken lead the Scots with three wins in doubles this season. 

Maria Clara Salomao and Rafaella Negrao De Almeida came up short to Frida Rubio and Kitsa Scime 2-6. 

Singles 
Entering singles, the Scots needed three points to clinch the win. In dramatic fashion the Edinboro women would deliver with three match wins.  

Zottele earned her first singles win with a 6-1, 6-2 final over Carly Armitage. 

Salomao and Nadai each posted clean 6-0, 6-0 sweeps to help Edinboro prevail. Nadai and Salomao lead Edinboro with three wins in singles each. 

Up Next 
Edinboro will begin their road trip that consists of five matches in seven days. The road trip begins on March 3rd when Edinboro goes head-to-head with Davis & Elkins College in Buckhannon, WV.
