Edinboro, Pa. – Jamison Dietrich has been announced as the next head coach of the storied Edinboro Cross Country teams on Tuesday morning.
"We are excited to have Jamison leading our cross country programs and as a member of our athletic staff," said Director of Athletics Dr. Katherine Robbins. "He has shown the ability to hit the ground running and has a record of success that aligns with the overall success of our cross country programs."
Dietrich comes to Edinboro from Bismarck State College where he served as the head coach for both the cross country and track & field squads. While there, started the cross country and track programs. In his first season at the helm, the brand-new Mystics program had three All-Americans. He built the track & field roster to over 50 athletes prior to year two.
"I am excited to jump right in and get started," said Dietrich. "The student-athletes have been really helpful in the transition and we're in a really good spot with a great group of student-athletes."
In his time with they Mystics, he had three NJCAA Track & Field All-Americans, six NJCAA Track & Field national qualifiers and one NJCAA Cross Country national qualifier.
Prior to his time at Bismarck State, he served on the coaching staff at his alma mater the University of Mary. He spent a year as a graduate assistant creating training and lifting plans for all the student-athletes. In his second season, Dietrich was elevated to the position of interim head coach just days before the start of the cross country season.
In that season as the head coach of the Marauder program, Dietrich helped the women to a 10
th-place finish at the national championships with the top finisher coming in 17th. The Marauder men had their best season placing second at the conference championships and sixth at the regional.
"I feel like I have very specific experiences to help me with this job," said Dietrich. "Whether it's at the University of Mary starting two days before the season started or at Bismarck State starting a program from scratch, those experiences will help me a lot at Edinboro and I feel confident in my abilities as a head coach."
