Wrestling Drops MAC Dual to Rider

Lawrenceville, N.J. – The Edinboro wrestling team dropped a 34-6 decision to host Rider on Sunday afternoon in MAC dual meet action.

Rider's Tyler Klinsky scored three takedowns of Caleb Edwards in the first to take a 9-2 lead to the second. The Bronco recorded four takedowns in the second to score a 22-6 tech fall at the 5:00 mark.

Richie Koehler scored a first period takedown of Lane Aikey to take a 3-0 lead after one. Koehler started the second with a reversal and picked up a stall point to go up 6-0 after two. Another stall point and the riding time point set the final at an 8-0 major decision.

Will Betancourt used three takedowns while Jacob Brenneman scored three escapes to put the Bronco ahead 9-3 after two. Betancourt scored a takedown to open the third before Brenneman recorded a reversal. Betancourt scored a 13-5 major decision.

Quinn Kinner jumped out to an 11-0 lead after one period against Colin Roberts. A Kinner takedown and three point near fall gave Kinner a 17-0 tech fall.

Rider picked up another tech fall at 157. Colton Washleski scored three first period takedowns of Steffan Lynch to go to the second up 9-2. Washleski scored a reversal to open the second and tallied two takedown and two near fall points to win 19-4.

The Scots got on the board at 165. After a scoreless first period, Cole McComas scored an escape to open the second before Max Kirby tallied a takedown to make it 3-1. McComas would get out before the end of the period to cut the lead to 3-2. Kirby extended his lead with an escape and a stall point to take 5-2 lead. McComas tied the match with a takedown before Kirby escaped and closed out a 9-5 decision with a takedown late.

Michael Wilson scored three takedowns of Joey Arnold to take a 9-3 lead after one on his way to a 14-5 major decision.

Isaac Dean and Brody Evans wrestled a scoreless first at 184. Dean took a 1-0 lead with an escape in the second. Evans tied the score getting out to open the third, but Dean got a third period takedown and four back points to take an 8-1 decision for Rider.

Jack Kilner continued his strong stretch of wrestling breaking a 1-1 tie with a third-period takedown to score a 4-1 decision over Azeem Bell.

David Szuba used two first period takedowns of Nick Lodato to close out the dual with an 11-1 major decision.
 
The Scots are back in action next Sunday when they make the trip to Central Michigan. Wrestling is set for 1 p.m.
