Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team scored a dominant 43-3 victory over Sacred Heart Friday afternoon picking up bonus points in five of nine bout victories.

The dual started at 149. Ryan Burgos got out to a fast start scoring a takedown at the 2:29 mark of the first period and turning Vinny Milazzo to score the fall just four seconds later putting Edinboro ahead 6-0.

Ryan Michaels kept the momentum going for the Scots. Michaels scored a takedown of Dakota Asuncion at the 1:59 mark. After an escape, Michaels scored two more takedowns to build a 9-2 lead after the first period. Michaels extended the lead with an escape at the 1:36 mark and then pushed the lead to 13-2 with another takedown before the end of the period. Asuncion chose neutral to start the third and Michaels scored his fifth takedown and four near-fall points ended the match with a 20-2 tech fall.

At 165, Calvin Pineda opened the scoring with a takedown of Max Kirby at the 2:32 mark of the first. Kirby escaped and then scored a takedown of his own to take a 4-3 lead. Pineda evened the score with an escape at the 2:02 mark. Kirby scored his second takedown of the period to take a 7-5 lead into the second. Kirby extended the lead to 8-5 with an escape. After an injury timeout, Kirby used his choice to go down and score another escape to make it 9-5. Kirby tallied another takedown to push the lead to 12-5. Pineda scored an escape in the third and Kirby picked up the riding time point for a 13-6 decision.

Brody Evans and Aidan Zarrella were scoreless through one. Evans scored an escape in the second and Zarrella an escape in the third to make it 1-1 at the end of regulation. Zarrella rode Evans out in the tiebreaker and chose neutral and held off a flurry of attacks to take a 2-1 decision.

Jared McGill built a 10-1 lead over Connor MacDonald after the first period with two takedowns and four near-fall points. After a reversal by McGill, MacDonald was injured and was unable to finish the bout leading to an injury default for McGill.

Nick Lodato scored an early takedown of Calum Price and worked a pair of near-fall points to build a 5-0 lead. Price escaped at the 32 second mark and Lodato scored a late takedown to go up 8-1 after the first. Lodato opened the second with a reversal and then three takedowns gave him the 19-4 tech fall.

Kade Sottolano scored a takedown late in the first period and made it stand up with an escape in the third to claim a 4-0 decision over Brendan Gilchrist.

Chris Vargo accepted a forfeit at 125.

Colton Camacho fell behind Andrew Fallon 6-2 after the first period. Fallon pushed the lead to 7-2 with an escape in the second. With 34 seconds left in the second period, Camacho scored a takedown to cut the deficit to 7-5 going to the third. Camacho tied the match with a reversal five seconds into the third period and then rode Fallon out to score the riding time point and the 8-7 decision.

Anthony Ferraro closed out the match with a bookend fall of Jake Samuels. Ferraro scored a takedown and worked around for the pin at the 2:27 mark.
 
The Scots are back in action at the Midlands on Dec. 29-30.
