Davidson, N.C. – The Edinboro wrestling team scored a 30-10 dual victory over Davidson Sunday afternoon.
Chris Vargo got the Scots off to a fast start tallying a 19-2 tech fall over Luke Passarelli to give the Scots a 5-0 lead after the 125-pound bout. Vargo scored a pair of takedowns in the first to build a 6-1 lead. He scored a penalty point and four near-fall points in the second to extend the lead to 11-1. Vargo closed out the match with an escape and two takedowns in the third to set the final.
At 133,
Colton Camacho also picked up bonus points scoring a third period fall over John Hager to extend the Edinboro lead to 11-0. Camacho held an 8-2 lead before scoring a takedown in the third and putting Hager on his back.
Anthony Ferraro kept the momentum going at 141. Ferraro started the bout with a takedown before Joshua Viarengo scored and escape leaving the Scot up 3-1 after the first. Ferraro scored four near-fall points to push his lead to 7-1 after two. Ferraro escaped to extend the lead to 8-1, but Viarengo scored a takedown to cut the lead to 8-4. A Ferraro reversal and Viarengo escape set the final at 11-5 pushing the Edinboro team lead to 14-0.
Ryan Burgos made it four straight wins for the Scots at 149. In a high-scoring first period, Burgos found himself down 5-4 to Tyler-Xavier McKnight. The bout was scoreless in the second and McKnight extended the lead in the third with an escape and take down. Burgos escape, scored a takedown and four near-fall points to grab a 12-10 decision.
The Wildcats got on the board at 157 when Tyler Peake scored an 8-2 decision to over
Ryan Michaels. Peake took a 3-0 lead in the first period with a take down. Michaels escaped in the second to cut the lead to 3-1. Peake escaped and scored a takedown to earn the 8-2 decision.
Bryce Griffin used four takedowns to earn a 14-6 major decision over
Max Kirby and cut the Edinboro lead to 17-7. Marc Koch notched a 7-2 decision over
Brody Evans to trim the lead to 17-10.
Jared McGill got things rolling again for the Scots scoring a first period takedown and three four point near-fall tilts for a 16-0 tech fall in the first period over Ian McGehee.
At 197,
Nick Lodato jumped out to 6-1 lead after the first period and extended the lead 14-1 at the end of the second. With a takedown early in the third he secured an 18-1 tech fall over Dylan Smith pushing the lead to 27-10.
Kade Sottolano scored a takedown and a stall point in the first period to hold a 4-0 lead over DJ Spring after the first. He scored an escape and another stall point in the second to extend the lead to 6-0. A scoreless third and the riding time point gave Sottolano a 7-0 decision setting the final.
The Scots are back in action on December 20 when they host Sacred Heart inside McComb Fieldhouse.
