Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team kicks off the 2024 season with a Thursday night contest against East Stroudsburg on the new turf of Sox Harrison Stadium.

Season Outlook
The Scots will debut new turf at Sox Harrison Stadium including tartan endzones and alternating green turf every five yards. Edinboro was 3-8 overall and 1-7 in PSAC West play a season ago closing out the season with a 36-30 victory over Lock Haven. The Scots also bring back
Teagan Brown who ranked third on the team with 25 catches for 301 yards as well as
Nico Mrvos who missed the 2023 season with an injury but hauled in 37 passes for 359 yards and a touchdown in 2022. The Scots also return the quarterback tandem of
Isaac Bernard and
Matt Carlisle. Bernard finished the year with 1,434 yards through the air with 10 touchdowns while Carlisle threw for 544 and three touchdowns while rushing for  297 and a score.
The East Stroudsburg finished 2023 9-3 overall and 5-2 in the PSAC East earning a spot in the NCAA Super Region I playoffs. The Warriors return 14 of 22 starters with All-PSAC East selections Tim Kinney, Tyriq Lewis, Raymond Christas, John Siggins and Justin Cooks all returning.
Offensive Line
The Scots bring back a wealth of experience on both sides of the ball. On the offensive line, the Scots return three starters to the offensive line and including All-PSAC left tackle
Gabe Hulslander who missed most of 2023 with an injury.
Returning Skill
On the outside, he Scots also bring back

Defensive Returners
The Fighting Scots also return key experience on the defensive side of the ball led by leading tackler C.J. Waldier. The first-team All-PSAC West selection recorded 100 tackles with 57 solo stops. Second-team All-Conference choice
Toby Cline returns to the Scot defensive backfield after making 51 tackles from his safety position. The Edinboro defense returns six other players with starting experience.
Special Teams
Edinboro returns All-American punter
Reed Martin who averaged better than 40 yards per punt last season coupled with the 10th best punt coveage unit in the nation. The Scots paced the PSAC averaging 37.96 net yards per punt.
New Turf
Sox Harrison Stadium received a turf upgrade this summer boasting plaid end zones, alternating greens every five yards and the newest Edinboro logo at midfield. The August 29th contest against East Stroudsburg is the debut of the new playing surface.
Season Opener
The Scots are 1-2 in season openers under head coach
Jake Nulph and 1-1 against Division II opponents. Edinboro dropped last season's opener to FCS Duquesne.
