Last Time Out
The Scots dropped to 1-3 overall after dropping a 32-27 decision to Bloomsburg last Saturday at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro scored a go ahead touchdown with 1:12, but the Huskies drove the length of the field and scored the game-winning score in the final minute. Issac Bernard threw for a career-high 339 yards with three touchdowns and one interception.
Teagan Brown was the favorite target hauling in six passes 84 yards. The Scots blocked a pair of punts and scored a special team's touchdown on Saturday.
Slippery Rock brings a 3-0 record into Saturday's PSAC West opener. Last week the Rock tallied a 33-7 victory over Shippensburg. Braydon Long threw for 2268 yards and a touchdown. Tony Grimes caught seven passes for 76 yards. Idris Lawrence was the leading rusher with 72 yards and a score. Munchie Johnson led the defense with eight tackles, three for a loss and one sack.
Climbing the List
Issac Bernard continues to climb Edinboro's all-time passing lists. He moved into fourth-place in career completions with 569. In the contest with Kutztown, he moved into seventh all-time in career passing yards passing Blair Hrovat. Â Bernard's 5,511 yards is currently the 12th best among active Division II quarterbacks. He is just 139 yards away from passing Hal Galupi for sixth on the Scots all-time list. Bernard is also ranks first among PSAC quarterbacks with a .696 completion percentage and 21.3 completions per contest.Â
Honor Roll
Edinboro added another PSAC Player of the Week after
Gage Galuska earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors after blocking a pair of punts and recovering one for a touchdown against Bloomsburg.
The Scots have had three other PSAC Player of the Week honorees this season
Teagan Brown and
Reed Martin both earned PSAC West Player of the Week honors in Week 1. Brown was the Offensive Player of the Week catching eight balls for 80 yards and touchdown. Martin punted six times with an average of 43.5 yards pinning the Colonials inside the 20 twice including a 74-yard punt downed at the 1-yard line that led to the game-winning safety.
Wilfredo Diaz was honored by the conference in Week 0. Diaz was the league's Defensive Player of the Week after making 22 tackles in against East Stroudsburg a feat that hadn't been accomplished in the PSAC since 2007.
Statistical Leaders
Diaz is currently Division II's leading tackler averaging 14.8 tackles per contest. Brown is currently leading the PSAC in receptions per game hauling in 7.5 catches per game including hauling in 11 passes at Kutztown in Week 2. It marks the second time in his career he has had double-digit catches in a game.
