Football Travels to IUP

Indiana, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team returns to action on Saturday with a 2 p.m. kickoff at IUP.

LAST TIME OUT EDINBORO
The Scots snapped a 12-game losing streak in PSAC West openers with a 21-20 come-from-behind victory over Clarion Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro trailed 20-0 at the half before scoring 21 straight points in the second half. Nico Marchitelli tallied 222 yards and a touchdown. DaeDae Allen made four catches for 81 yards. Bo Swartz scored two rushing touchdowns. Daunte White tallied nine tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. JT Taylor had five tackles and a key extra point block.

LAST TIME OUT IUP
The Crimson Hawks improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC West after scoring a 40-13 victory over Seton Hill on Saturday. Matthew Rueve was 30-for-37 for 400 yards and four touchdowns. His favorite target was Devin Whitlock who hauled in 11 catches for 130 yards. Nathan Rosario-Santos and Noah Johnston each tallied six tackles.

DAUNTE WHITE
In his first action of the season, Daunte White recorded nine tackles with six solo stops. He also tallied 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. He helped the Scots pitch a second-half shutout of Clarion in the Scots 21-20 victory. The 4.5 tackles for loss is the most since Victor Hudson recorded 6.5 TFLs in 2016.

HONOR ROLL
The Scots earned a pair of PSAC Player of the Week honors in Week 0. Jaret Frantz hauled in touchdowns of 11 yards, 11 yards and 12 yards as part of a six catch 78 yard day against East Stroudsburg to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. Ricco Sastoque averaged 52.0 yards per punt including a long of 62 and pinned the Warriors inside the 20 twice to earn Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.

RED ZONE
The Edinboro defense has been stout in the redzone ranking third in the conference and 26th in Division II at 63.6 percent. The Scots are scoring at a 80.0 percent clip in the red zone ranking 10th in the PSAC. Bo Swartz showed his red zone skills on Saturday rushing for a pair of touchdowns and a two-point conversion against the Golden Eagles.

HIDDEN YARDS
Ricco Sastoque ranks 12th in Division II and first in the PSAC in punting averaging 42.9 yards per punt. The Scots are seventh in the PSAC in net punting at 35.0 yards per punt. The Scots have committed the fewest penalties in Division II with 16.  Their 30.8 penalty yards per game ranks fourth in Division II and leads the PSAC.

DAEDAE ALLEN
DaeDae Allen is the Scots leading receiver catching 19 passes for 211 yards. He has also been the Scots starting kick returner ranking 10th in the PSAC at 19.9 yards per return. He is fourth in the conference in all-purpose yards with 107.5 per contest.

RESTRICTED AIR SPACE
Sophomore safety Nate Deanes currently ranks 38th in the country and third in the PSAC with 1.25 passes defended per game. Deanes finished the contest against Clarion by intercepting the final pass of the game giving him two on the year. His 0.5 interceptions per game is the third best mark in the PSAC.

DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN
Against Bloomsburg, Amari Jones intercepted KJ Riley and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown. It was the first interception that went back for a touchdown since Toby Cline posted a pick six against Slippery Rock on November 5, 2022. 

PASSING GAME
Nico Marchitelli is off to a strong start he ranks 67th in the country and seventh in the PSAC with 812 passing yards. His 19.0 completions per game ranks fourth in the PSAC. He is currently connecting on 59.4 percent of his passes good for eighth in the PSAC.
