LAST TIME OUT EDINBORO
The Fighting Scotdefense led the way as Edinboro tallied a 22-6 victory over Seton Hill last Saturday running their record to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in PSAC West play. he Scot defense forced five Griffin fumbles and recovered four of them. Edinboro also made nine tackles for loss including three sacks.
Nate Deanes notched nine stops, 2.0 tackles for loss, forced a fumble and returned another for a touchdown.
Nick Pennucci made seven stops with 1.0 for a loss and one forced fumble.
Caron Robinson carried the ball 21 times for 125 yards and a touchdown, his second 100-yard game of the season.
Nico Marchitelli was 6-for-14 for 19 yards and he rushed eight times for 16 yards and a touchdown.
LAST TIME OUT SLIPPERY ROCK
The Rock is 6-2 overall and 3-2 in PSAC West play after a 42-23 victory over Clarion last week. JayJay Jordan rushed for 179 yards and a touchdown earning PSAC Offensive Player of the Week honors. DaOne Owens was 19-of-34 for 229 yards and two scores. Tyler Cain led the defense making eight tackles, 2.0 for a loss, 1.0 sack and one interception.
HONOR ROLL
The Scots list of conference honors grew in Week 8 with
Nate Deanes earning PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors making nine tackles, forcing a fumble and recovering a fumble that he returned 70 yards for a touchdown.
Sunday Ikegwuonu earned PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 7. He made three tackles with 2.5 tackles per loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery against Gannon.
In his first action of the season against Clarion,
Daunte White recorded nine tackles with six solo stops. He also tallied 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. He helped the Scots pitch a second-half shutout of Clarion in the Scots 21-20 victory. The 4.5 tackles for loss is the most since Victor Hudson recorded 6.5 TFLs in 2016.
The Scots earned a pair of PSAC Player of the Week honors in Week 0.
Jaret Frantz hauled in touchdowns of 11 yards, 11 yards and 12 yards as part of a six catch 78 yard day against East Stroudsburg to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Ricco Sastoque averaged 52.0 yards per punt including a long of 62 and pinned the Warriors inside the 20 twice to earn Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.
CENTURY MARK
Against Seton Hill,
Caron Robinson rushed for more than 100 yards. He finished the game with 21 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown. For the year, Robinson has 100 carries for 581 yards averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He also has five rushing scores on the season.
HIDDEN YARDS
The Scots have committed the sixth fewest penalties in Division II with 39. Their 39.6 penalty yards per game ranks eighth in Division II and first in the PSAC.
POSTSEASON OUTLOOK
Edinboro enters today game tied for first in the PSAC West with IUP. Slippery Rock is one game back of the Crimson Hawks and Scots. A win for either team and an IUP loss to Clarion would send the victor to the PSAC Championship Game. Slippery Rock is currently seventh in the NCAA Super Region I rankings with the Scot just outside the rankings.
REDZONE OFFENSE
The Scots have been solid in the redzone scoring an 90.0 percent rate mark that is 15th in the nation and third in the PSAC.
Bo Swartz has been a redzone weapon for the Scots scoring five rushing touchdowns this season.
DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWNS
Deanes scored the second defensive touchdown of the season for the Scots when he scooped up a Ky'Ron Craggette fumble and raced 70 yards for a touchdown.
Against Bloomsburg,
Amari Jones intercepted KJ Riley and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown. It was the first interception that went back for a touchdown since
Toby Cline posted a pick six against Slippery Rock on November 5, 2022.
