Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team fell 24-12 to Rider in a hotly contested MAC dual Friday night inside McComb Fieldhouse.

The dual started at 174 with
Brody Evans taking on Michael Wilson. Wilson struck first scoring a takedown with 30 seconds left in the first to take a 3-0 lead into the second. In the second, Wilson scored an escape and another takedown to push his lead to 7-0. Evans cut the lead to 7-1, but a stall point and a takedown gave Wilson the major decision to open the dual.

Jared McGill scored a first period takedown to go up 3-1 after the first period. McGill escaped four seconds into the second to extend his lead to 4-1. Dean escaped and scored a takedown go ahead 5-4 with 49 seconds remaining. McGill managed to escape with 30 seconds left to force sudden victory. Dean scored a takedown as time expired in the sudden victory period to claim an 8-5 decision.

Brock Zurawski got to the offense early against
Nick Lodato using a takedown and three near-fall points to grab a 6-0 lead after one. He used a reversal to extend the lead to 8-0 in the second. Two takedowns and two back points gave Zurawski at tech fall at 16-1.

Aden Roe put the Scots on the board with a major decision over Collin French. Roe scored a takedown with 1:52 in the first and forced a stall warning on French while riding out the period. Roe rode out French for the full two minutes in the second an picked up a stall point to go up 4-0. The third started with a Roe escape and takedown to push the score to 8-0. Roe rode out the third picking up the riding time point for a 9-0 final.

Chris Vargo found himself down 7-1 after the first period to Noah Michaels. Vargo cut into the lead with a reversal in the second period to make it 7-3 heading to the third. Michaels started the third with an escape, but Vargo scored a takedown to cut the lead to 8-6. A penalty point for an illegal headlock on Vargo made it 9-6 and a Michaels escaped extended the lead to 10-6. Vargo scored another takedown with 1:19 left to cut the lead to 10-9. Michaels escaped and held off a late charge from Vargo scoring the riding time point for a 12-9 decision.

After a scoreless first period between
Colton Camacho and Will Betancourt, Camacho scored an escape and then earned a stall point to take a 2-0 lead after two. Betancourt scored a reversal with 16 seconds left in the third, but Camacho escaped and earned the riding time point for a 4-2 decision.

Anthony Ferraro scored bonus points for the Scots against Rider's Branden Palcko. With a lead in the third, Ferraro turned Palcko with a 1:06 left in the final period scoring a fall and pulling Edinboro within 15-12 in the team score.

At 149, Sammy Alverez grabbed a lead on
Ryan Michaels with a takedown with 6 seconds left in the first period. Michaels escaped to start the second period, but Alverez scored a takedown with 50 seconds left and rode out the period holding a 6-0 lead. Alverez extended the lead to 10-0 with an escape and a takedown. Michaels scored an escape with 15 seconds left setting the 10-2 final.

Ryan Burgos scored the first takedown of the match with Colton Washleski just 18 seconds into the match. Washleski escaped and scored a takedown of his own to grab a 4-3 lead. Burgos escaped with 10 seconds on the clock in the first to make it 4-4 heading to the second. Washleski built an 8-4 lead with an escape and a takedown, but Burgos pulled with in 8-6 with a reversal. With 7 seconds left in the second, Washleski escaped to make it 9-6 after two. Washleski scored a pair of third period takedowns to secure a 16-9 decision.

In the final bout of the night,
Max Kirby scored the first takedown, but Enrique Munguia escaped and scored a takedown of his own to grab a 4-3 lead. The only scoring in the second was a Munguia escape to make it 5-3. Munguia scored two takedowns in the third to score a 12-6 decision.
