Softball Splits PSAC West Doubleheader with Clarion

Clarion, Pa. – The Edinboro softball team split a PSAC West twin bill at Clarion Saturday afternoon.
 
The Scots fell 4-1 in the opener before scoring a 3-1 victory in the nightcap.
 
Game 1
Delanie Davison broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning with a three-run homer to put Clarion up 3-0. Davison extended the lead to 4-0 in the fifth tripling home Emily Buchleitner.
 
Edinboro got on the board in the top of the seventh when pinch hitter Emilia Marra hit a sacrifice fly that plated Ashley Rose.
 
Isabelle Bavaro was the only Scot to record multiple hits finishing the game 3-for-3.
 
Giana Ficcaglia took the loss in the circle allowing four runs on five hits, walking four and striking out a career-high 10 batters.
 
Game 2
In the second game, the score was tied 1-1 heading to the seventh inning. The Scots first two batters recorded outs before Abbe Sito was hit by a pitch. Sydney Lohocki entered the game as a pinch runner and advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third. Madeline Maguire worked a walk and stole second. Abigail Olejniczak loaded the bases with a walk of her own. Bavaro singled home Lohocki and Maguire to put the Scots up 3-1.
 
The Golden Eagles brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but Grace Kessel induced a ground out from Davison to end the game.
 
Clarion struck first in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Davison. The Scots answered in the top of the fourth when Bavaro scored on a wild pitch.
 
Maguire and Isabella Becker each tallied two hits for Edinboro. Kessel scored the win in the circle, allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven.
 
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host Seton Hill. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
