East Stroudsburg, Pa. -- The Edinboro football team begins the 2025 season with a trip to East Stroudsburg Thursday night with kickoff slated for 7:05 p.m.
The Game
Edinboro brings a new look into the 2025 season after finishing 3-8 overall in the 2024 season. The Scots bring in a whole new coaching staff led by Matt Scott who spent the last six seasons calling the defense at New Haven.

The Scots and Warriors square off in Week 0 for the second straight season with East Stroudsburg coming out with a 24-12 victory at Sox Harrison Stadium a season ago. Edinboro last made the trip to Eiler-Martin Stadium on Sept. 21, 2019. The Scots were selected sixth in the PSAC West Preseason Coaches' Poll.
East Stroudsburg finished 2024 with a 10-2 record. The Warrior offense was the top unit in scoring, total offense and rushing. They scored 53 touchdowns last season. The 2024 defense held opponents to 15.9 points per game the third best mark in the PSAC. The Warriors return quarterback Sean McTaggart as well as a core group of offensive lineman and receiver Evan Roche.Â

Offensive Returners
Edinboro brings back eight staters on the offensive side of the ball including at four of the five offensive line spots. The Scots also return four of their top five pass catchers form a season ago led by
Jaret Frantz whol hauled in 30 catches for 417 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end
Clayton Bezon added 28 catches for 179 yards and a score.
Gavin Ennis added 21 catches for 158 yards.
Jerry Dinkins III returns after rushing for 209 yards while also catching 25 passes for 164 yards.Â
Defensive Returners
The Fighting Scots bring back five starters with three along the defensive line.
JT Taylor,
Kaden Spiegel and
Nick Rossi will lead the defensive front. Taylor made 30 tackles, with 7.5 for a loss and 2.0 sacks. Spiegel added 16 tackles with 2.0 for a loss and a sack. Rossi tallied 12 stops.
Jermaine Atkins and Kemar Meza are returning starters for Edinboro in the defensive backfield.
Close Calls
Edinboro played eight one possession games in 2024. They went 3-5 in those games including a 23-21 victory over FCS Robbert Morris.
