Lawrenceville, N.J. – The Edinboro wrestling team dropped a 28-14 decision to host Rider Saturday afternoon in MAC dual action.

In the opening match of the dual
Chris Vargo and Tyler Klinsky wrestled a scoreless first period. Vargo took a 1-0 lead with an escape, but a penalty point and a take down put Klinsky up 4-1 going to the third. Klinsky extended the lead with an escape to start the third. Vargo scored a take down to close the gap to 5-4, before Klinsky scored another escape to set the final at 6-4.

Will Betancourt scored a pair of first period take downs of
Landon Bainey to hold a 6-1 lead after the first. Betancourt scored the only point of the second, an escape, to take a 7-1 lead to the third. Bainey scored an escape of his own an Betancourt picked up the riding time point for an 8-2 decision.

Elijah Griffin took down
Jacob Brenneman twice while the Scot scored two escapes to make it 6-2 at the end of the first. Brenneman escaped in the second cutting the lead to 6-3. An escape, and two take downs for Griffin gave the Bronco a 14-5 major decision to make the match 10-0 Rider.

Parker Senitpal got the nod for the Scots at 149. Dylan Layton scored the lone points of the first with a take down. Two more take downs for the Rider 149-pounder extended the lead to 9-2 after two. Layton would score five in the third to take a 14-2 major decision.

Garrett McChesney and Gianni Maldonado, McChesney broke the ice with a reversal to start the second. Maldonado would escape and McChesney would score the matches only take down to build a 5-2 lead after two. Maldonado escaped to open the third, but McChesney held on for the 5-3 decision.

Tate Gieser and Enrique Munguia were scoreless through one period. In the second, Munguia escaped and after a take down scored that fall in 4:34.

Jared McGill go to his offense early against Giovanni Alejandro scoring a take down and four near fall points to build a 7-0 lead after one. He added an escape and a take down in the second to push the advantage to 11-0. He would pick up a penalty point and a take down to secure the 15-0 tech fall in 6:35.

Brock Zurawski opened the scoring against
Brody Evans with a first period take down. Evans escaped to start the second, but Zurawski notched a take down, penalty point and two back points to go up 9-1 after two. Zurawski earned a 16-1 tech fall.
