Edinboro, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team dropped an 18-12 dual to visiting Lock Haven Thursday night in MAC action inside McComb Fieldhouse.

Chris Vargo started the night strong scoring a first period takedown and building over a minute and a half of riding time. Vargo grew the lead to 9-1 with a pair of takedowns in the second period. Curtis Nelson scored a late takedown to stave off the major decision and Vargo picked up the riding time point to score a 10-5 decision.

Landon Bainey and Gabe Strickland locked in a defensive struggle. After a scoreless first, Strickland rode Bainey for the entire second period and then scored an escape in the third to take the 2-0 decision.

No. 20 Wyatt Henson used a late first period takedown of
Jacob Brenneman to grab a 3-0 lead after one. Henson grew the lead to 10-2 late in the third, but Brenneman scored a takedown to cut the lead to 10-5. Henson picked up the riding time point but only came away with an 11-5 decision.

Ryan Michaels scored a takedown with 40 seconds left in the first period and then got four swipes to build a 7-0 lead after the first. Hunter Gould rode out the second period and then chose top for the third. Gould picked up a stall point and a riding time point to set the final 7-2.

Lock Haven's Nick Stampoulos scored the first period takedown of
Garrett McChesney, but in the final 15 seconds, McChesney scored the reversal to send the match to the second with Stampoulos up 3-2. McChesney escaped to start the second and knot the score 3-3. In the final period Stampoulos escaped to take a 4-3 decision giving Lock Haven a 7-6 team advantage at the break.

Ryan Burgos and Nick Kunstek wrestled a scoreless first period. Burgos broke the ice with an escape to start the second. With 15 seconds left in the second period, Burgos finished a takedown and took a 4-0 lead into the third. Kunstek escaped to get one, but Burgos scored the riding time point for a 5-1 decision.

Tate Geiser opened the scoring with a takedown of Avery Bassett, but the Bald Eagle scored a reversal to make it 3-2 Geiser after one. Bassett scored an escape and a takedown early in the second to take a 6-3 lead. Geiser scored the escape to make it 6-4, but Bassett scored the only takedown of the third for the 9-4 decision.

Alaa Aly drew into the lineup for the Scots to face Sam Gautreau. The Bald Eagle got to his offense and scored seven takedowns to win 21-5 and score the tech fall in 6:15.

Brody Evans and Tucker Hogan were scoreless after on. Hogan started the second on top and scored four near fall points before Evans scored his escape to make it 4-1 after two. Hogan escaped and picked up the riding time point on his way to a 6-2 victory.

Aden Roe finished the dual taking on
Kade Sottolano. The first period passed scoreless. Sottolano was on top to start the second and Roe notched the escape after just 24 seconds. In the third, Sottolano chose neutral and Roe scored the takedown in the closing seconds to score the 4-0 decision.
