EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro Athletic Department announced 11 inductees into the Edinboro Athletic Hall of Fame as selected by the Hall of Fame Committee. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 30, 2026.
The reception will open at 5:45 p.m. with the induction ceremony set for 7 p.m. The class of 2026 includes standouts from men's basketball, women's basketball, football, track and field, men's wrestling and women's soccer as well as the Scots first national championship cross country team.
1975 Cross Country Team
The 1975 Cross Country Team were the Scots first national championship team. The 1975 team won the national championship in dominating fashion winning the title by 47 points.
The Scots boasted four All-American finishers in Henry Winger, Jeff Foster, Dalvin Baehler and Kevin Foley. The 1975 team won the PSAC Championship by 65 points with finishing four runners in the top six spots.
Members of the team included: Dennis Packard, Doug Roessler, Dalvin Baehler, Jim Lyons, Ron Sheehan, Henry Winger, Joe Come, Rich Bogaty, Bruce Rapose, Mark Muggleton, Dave Hornak, Jack Hutterer, Rick Kifer, Lee Foster, Kevin Goley, Douge Howe, Jeff Foster, Mark Ladika, Cary Custer and Pat Logue.
Samantha Blazetic
Blazetic, a women's basketball standout, was an honorable mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association and Division II Bulletin. In her senior season, she was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Year recording 64 blocks and 41 steals. She was a first-team All-PSAC West and named to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region second-team choice.
Blazetic holds the Edinboro record with 285 career blocks. She ranks fifth in rebounds with 784 and 14
th all-time in scoring with 1,372 points. She has the second-most blocks in a single season with 81. She holds four of the top 10 seasons in blocked shots in program history.
After graduation, Blazetic played professionally in Germany before returning to United States to continue her career in management and coaching. She spent seven seasons coaching high school basketball. She currently works with a franchise ownership group for a fitness center in multiple regions in Ohio and Michigan where she serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the franchise.
Henri Wade-Chatman
Chatman played three seasons as a Fighting Scot earning DII Bulletin Honorable Mention All-American status in 2016. He was a two-time first-team All-PSAC West selection. He was the 2016 Sox Harrison Award honoree as the department's top male senior athlete.
He finished his career ranked 10
th all-time in scoring with 1,397 points in just three seasons. He ranked eighth in school history with 17.7 points per game. He ranks seventh in 3-point field goals made with 162 and eighth in 3-point percentage at .383.
After graduation, Chatman played internationally for seven seasons competing in Spain, Slovakia, Estonia and Romania. He currently serves as a supervisor with the United States Postal Service. He is the founder of Uno Academy, a basketball training and player development program dedicated to helping young athletes throughout the Pittsburgh Area.
Meghan Kelly Cress
Cress was a women's soccer standout who started four years as the Fighting Scot goalkeeper holding nearly every career goalkeeping record. She was a two-time Capital One Academic All-District selection. She was an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship Nominee. She also earned a pair of D2ADA Athletic Achievement Awards.
She holds career records for wins (41), goals against average (1.04), shutouts (21) and ranks second in saves with 300. She holds the single season record with seven shutouts. She also ranks in the top five in single season wins, save percentage, goals against and saves.
She is entering her 12
th year as a learning support teacher at Slippery Rock Area Middle School. She has coached middle school boys soccer for four years and two years as the assistant girls' varsity soccer coach. She is currently coaching her son's U4/U5 soccer team in the Seneca Valley North Soccer Association.
Cody Harris
Harris was a standout quarterback for the Edinboro football team. He was the 2014 Sox Harrison Award winner and he was a PSAC West Second-Team quarterback. He was a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award Semifinalist. He is a three-time PSAC Scholar Athlete and four-time Edinboro Scholar Athlete.
Harris holds the career completion percentage record at 68.9 percentage he also holds the second-highest single season mark. In 2011, Harris set the season completion percentage record with 72.2 percent. He ranks second all-time in passing yards with 9,605. His 891 career completions is also the second-best mark in school history. He holds three of the top 10 best marks for completions in a season. His 73 touchdown passes rank third in Edinboro history.
After graduating from Edinboro University with a degree in Exercise Science in 2013, continued education at the University of Toledo, earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Physician Assistant Studies in 2017.He became board certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in February 2018.Harris has spent the past eight years working as a Physician Assistant in Internal Medicine and post-acute care in Ohio.
Mike Pancerev
Pancerev was an NAIA All-American with a sixth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships in 1974. In 1975, he was the javelin champion at the esteemed Penn Relays. He won PSAC Track & Field Championships in the javelin in 1974 and 1975.
Pancerev still holds the Edinboro javelin record. During his career, he set the meet record at the Fairmont State Relays and the Buffalo State Relay. He was also a member of the Fighting Scot basketball team in 1973.
Since graduation, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was in on the initial phases of Hunt of a Lifetime which provides opportunities for terminally ill youth to experience the outdoors. In 2005, he was introduced to the sport of Sporting Clays and began traveling all over the United States for competitions earning many titles. He also instructed and coached The Scholastic Clay Target Program mentoring kids to learn to shoot and compete.
Rob Stoner
Stoner was a highly decorated offensive lineman for the Fighting Scot Football team. He was named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches' Association, second-team Associated Press All-American and an honorable mention All-American by Don Hansen as a senior. In his junior year, he was named First-Team All-Region by both Daktronics and Football Gazette.
He helped the Scot offense average 28.8 points, 346.1 yards and 145.4 rushing yards per game. In the 2009 season, Edinboro went 9-4 and reached the Super Region 1 semifinals.
After graduation, he began working as a financial advisor. He partnered with his father and now owns Stoner Financial Management. He spends his time coaching his children in basketball and little league. He spends his free time landscaping or woodworking.
Ryan Valasek
Valasek was a wide receiver on the Edinboro football team ranking among the best receivers to wear a Fighting Scot uniform. He was a two-time All-PSAC West honoree earning first-team honors in 2006. He was a second-team Football Gazette All-Region Choice in his senior season.
He ranks third in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns with 2,265 and 20 respectively. He is eighth in receptions with 132. He set the school record for receptions in a season with 64 a mark that now ranks fourth all-time. His 1,032 receiving yards in 2006 is the third-best mark in school history.
Following graduation, Valasek began his career in federal law enforcement serving for 18 years in Washington, D.C. He currently resides in Charleston, W.Va. with his wife and three daughters.
Branden Williams
Williams was a decorated defensive back for the Fighting Scot football team. Williams was a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in 2011 and 2012. He earned three All-PSAC selections including a pair of first-team nods. He was the PSAC West Freshman of the Year and in his senior season won the Sox Harrison Award.
He holds the Edinboro single season record for blocked kicks with five in 2012 leading to the career record of 13. He ranks fourth in Edinboro history with 16 interceptions. He returned three of those interceptions for touchdowns.
Upon graduation, he spent seven years teaching between James W Parker Middle School and Wattsburg Area Middle School. He would later transition into the insurance industry holding a variety of training and development roles. He is currently a Product Owner with Erie Insurance. He has continued to be involved in sport coaching high school football and track and field while also coaching numerous youth sports.
Greg Sirb
Sirb is the Lifetime Achievement in Sports recipient for this year's Hall of Fame Class.
In January of 1990, Sirb was appointed by then Gov Robert Casey to serve as Pennsylvania first Executive Director of the newly formed Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission. As the Executive Director Sirb oversaw all boxing, wrestling, and MMA events throughout the Commonwealth. He was re-appointed seven times by both Dem/Rep governors and served for 33 years.
One of the founding members of the Association of Boxing Commissions, which Sirb served as President from 1996 through 2001. In 1996, he worked with US Senator John McCain in drafting and passing the nation's first piece of legislation that pertained to Professional boxing - "the Professional Boxing Safety Act - this federal law established the nation's first minimum health, safety, and operational standards for professional boxing matches. It required mandatory medical exams, the presence of ringside physicians, ambulances on site and required promoters to provide health insurance coverage for each boxer to cover any injuries sustained in the ring. Then in 2000 Sirb again team with Senator McCain and Muhammad Ali to ensure the passage of the Ali Act which was a landmark federal law designed to protect professional boxers from exploitation, anti-competitive practices, and for the first time in boxing history provide financial transparency for all boxers by requiring all fees and contracts to be disclosed with the help of the US Federal Tade Commission (FTC),
Sirb was also instrumental in crafting the Unified Rules of Boxing that are still used today in all professional boxing events in the United States. In 2019, the Boxing Writers Association of America awarded Sirb its highest honor – the James A. Farley Award for Honesty and Integrity in the sport. In 2023 he retired as the longest serving Executive Director in the country.
Matt Lamoreaux
Lamoreaux is honored as the Distinguished Service Award honoree for the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
While competing at Edinboro, Lamoreaux was a two-time captain and two-time All-PSAC performer as a member of the wrestling team. After graduation, Lamoreaux began his professional career as a District Manager with Troyer Farms Potato Chips moving up the company to become the Executive Vice President of Sales. When the company vacated the snack food business, he was hired by Utz Brands, Inc. where he is now the Vice President of Central U.S. Operations with Marketing and Advertising responsibilities.
Lamoreaux has continued to serve the Fighting Scot community as the President of the Edinboro Regional Training Center. He is a generous contributor to numerous Fighting Scot athletic teams and annually awards the Lamoreaux Family Wrestling Scholarship.
